Glass is great right up until someone can see straight through it. A conference room off the lobby, an exam room facing the parking lot, a bathroom window by the neighbor’s driveway or a glass front door all have the same problem. Blinds and curtains block the light along with the view. Privacy film blocks the view and lets the light through.
Solar Sentinel Window Film is a locally owned company out of Hixson, with over 10 years in business and 25+ years of combined installation experience. We’re an XPEL Preferred Dealer, and XPEL lists us as an installer for its decorative and security film lines.

Frosted film gives clear glass an etched or sandblasted look. Light still comes through, but people can’t see shapes on the other side. It works day and night.
You don’t have to frost the whole pane. A band at eye level, the bottom half of a window or everything except a clear strip at the top are all common. The convenience store in the photo at the top of this page has frosted film across its upper row of windows.
Decorative film covers the same ground as frost, with more design: gradients that fade from frosted to clear, stripes and bands, textures and patterns. Offices use it to break up big glass walls so nobody walks into them. Homeowners use it on bathroom windows, cabinet glass and doors.
Because it’s film and not etched glass, it can be changed later. That matters if you lease your space or expect to rearrange it.

One-way or reflective film gives you a mirror look from outside during the day while you can still see out. It’s popular for street-facing homes, ground-floor offices and businesses that want daytime privacy without blinds. It also cuts a lot of heat and glare.
Here’s the part some installers skip: one-way film works because it’s brighter outside than inside. At night, with your lights on, it reverses, and people outside can see in. If you need privacy around the clock, frosted or decorative film is the better choice, or we can pair reflective film with blinds for the evenings.
The wooded home in Soddy-Daisy shown here has reflective film on its tall two-story windows.
Medical, dental, eye care, counseling and veterinary offices often have exam rooms or waiting areas with windows on the parking lot. Frosted or reflective film keeps patients out of view without turning the room into a cave. It’s also a simple way to cover the glass in a records room or a staff area.
For the rest of the building, see our commercial window tinting in Chattanooga page, or our storefront window tinting page for retail and restaurant glass.
At home, privacy film usually goes on bathroom windows, front door glass and sidelights, basement and ground-floor windows close to the street, and rooms that face a neighbor. If heat and glare are part of the problem too, reflective film or a darker solar film can handle both. See our home window tinting in Chattanooga page for more.
