Window Film for Jasper Highlands & Guild View Homes

Keep the view. Lose the heat, glare and fading.

Big Glass, Big Sun

Homes up on the plateau are built around the view, and that means glass. Walls of windows over the valley, two-story great rooms, sliders out to the deck. It’s the reason people build up here. It’s also why so many of these houses run hot in the afternoon, squint-bright at sunset and hard on new floors and furniture.

Solar Sentinel Window Film, LLC puts film on the inside of that glass to deal with the heat, glare and UV without covering the windows up. We’ve been in business over 10 years, with 25+ years of combined installation experience, and we carry a full line of both XPEL and LLumar films, so we can match the film to the house and the view instead of selling everyone the same thing.

What the Plateau Does to Your Windows

  • The afternoon sun comes straight in. Valley-facing glass often faces west or southwest, with nothing between you and the sun until it sets. Those rooms heat up while the rest of the house is comfortable.
  • Open sky means glare. Up high, there’s a lot of bright sky in every window. Screens wash out, and you end up closing the shades on the view you built the house for.
  • New finishes fade. Fresh hardwood, rugs, cabinets and upholstery in a glass-heavy room take a lot of UV. Window film blocks up to 99% of it.
  • Wooded lots still need privacy. Bathrooms, soaking tubs and bedrooms can face a neighbor or the road even with trees around. A frosted or decorative band on the lower part of a window gives privacy and keeps the treetops and light.

Choosing a Film Without Losing the View

There’s no single right film for a view home. Some people want the glass to look untouched and just want the heat and UV gone. Others mostly fight glare and are fine with a little tint. We bring samples from both the XPEL and LLumar lines and put them up on your actual windows, so you can look out through each one in your own light.

A few things we look at on every house:

  • Which way each wall of glass faces and when the sun hits it
  • The glass itself: dual-pane, tinted or Low-E, and what the window maker allows
  • How the film will look from outside, if you want to keep a natural, low-reflective look
  • Which rooms need privacy as well as sun control

Residential installs carry a lifetime warranty, and most homes are finished in a day. See our residential window tinting and privacy and decorative film pages for more on the options.

Building on the Mountain?

If your house is still going up, the best time for film is near the end, after the windows are in and the dusty trades like drywall and flooring are done, and before the furniture arrives. That way the floors and finishes are protected from the first day you move in. We’re glad to coordinate with your builder on timing. Builders can find trade details on our window film for builders page.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Yes. We serve the plateau, Guild, Jasper and the rest of Marion County, and estimates are free. Call (423) 659-1000 to set a time.

A: No. Some of the ceramic films we carry are nearly clear and still cut a lot of heat and UV. If glare is the bigger problem, a slightly darker film helps more. We’ll put samples on your glass so you can look out through them before you choose.

A: It depends on the window maker and the glass. Some manufacturers have guidance on which films can go on their insulated glass. We check the glass type and the window warranty before we recommend a film, and we’ll tell you plainly if a window isn’t a good candidate.

A: Yes. Two-story glass and high transoms are common on these homes, and we bring the ladders and rolling scaffolding to reach them safely inside the house.

A: Some. The bigger benefit up here is summer heat and year-round glare and fading, but film also cuts some of the chill you feel sitting next to a big window in winter. We’ll give you a straight answer about what to expect for your house.
